A group of students from the Tuesday Class are working with Margaret Feringa and Joe Potagaroa to clean up the Lakeview Stream from pollution. The main goal is to get the Henley Lake clean and safe again.

We walked around the streams around Masterton and also walked around the Lakeview Stream. We made many observations about the river quality.

Elton Perry from the Greater Wellington Regional Council came with us to the stream to do some water testing. We found that the stream is very murky. The high point of the day for many people was finding a small eel in the river.

Wes ten Hove came from the Masterton District Council to talk about the catchment around Masterton and the issues around it. He also gave us maps of our stream and around Masterton. We looked at the maps and they fitted perfectly into our concept of patterns. The contour lines show patterns.

We planted native trees and ferns beside our stream. We all got our hands dirty! Thanks to lis for providing us with the trees to use.
